What do you REALLY REALLY want for 2014?

The new year is just around the corner and like me, you might not want to lock yourself in with New Year’s resolutions that you then feel guilty about failing to achieve, right?

And if we are able to actually give up a bad habit, it may come at a high cost. You may manage to give up smoking – yet, put on 20 kilos. How do we get to improve all areas of life by changing just one small aspect – small only in terms of time and money.

Personal development can seem like a daunting task when you think about all the improvements you want to make in every area of your life: health, money, career, relationships, education, family, leisure, sports, spiritual growth and so on. So often it seems like you succeed in one area only to see another one neglected. Even if we may become wildly successful in one area, it just seems so hard to succeed across the board.

Wouldn’t it be incredible if we could simply do one thing to improve ourselves and the rest would kick in as a ripple effect?

Imagine improving one area of your life, and every other area of your life was improved as a result.

Someone told me that for him it is physical fitness. Getting fit would bring him a better body image, confidence, relationships and it would all result in more money in a happier job. In a way, all this is true – and we all know it: Yet what is holding us back from getting this fit and happy and healthy? For me – physical activity is a result of something else.

For me the answer is not exercise, but to first “INNERCISE”. This could be a daily meditation, doing the Healing Code every morning, starting the day with a prayer, a walk in nature, Yoga … but in silence and with the conscious awareness that this is ME-TIME first.

Somebody said, “If you don’t have time to meditate for 20 minutes, you should meditate for an hour.”

Imagine getting to that place of inner power and pulling out of that pool of unlimited potential all the energy you need to create your day, or allow it to be created, just setting the intention. Even if you never set an intention, the ‘Universe’ reads your intention by what you are paying attention to.

What do you pay attention to all day long? If you don’t know the answer, look at your life.

That is my own New Year Resolution – keep my morning routine going and let the Universe read my Intention to be in the flow of Abundance, Grace and Joy by paying attention to where my thoughts, feelings and believes are.

I have worked for 14 years with Dyslexic and Asperger geniuses one-on-one, founded Sydney Dyslexia and Autism Sydney, worked in Mosman and at a beach retreat at the Entrance and wrote three books on Dyslexia ('the Right Brain for the Right Time', 'Nurturing the Secret Garden' and 'Learning your Times Tables in Three Bold Steps'). I believe these children and adults have a great gift and the ability to become leaders in their field. But I have also found that a proper diet as well as educating and working together with parents, friends and teachers matters even more. I am now working with small groups at the Entrance Beach Retreat, helping dyslexic adults fulfill their professional dreams and parents to help develop and nurture their child's potential.
